Two park interpreters will provide hands-on low tide beach exploration with anatomy information, a review of the sustainable crab fisheries, and an opportunity to try out our citizen science study on the recreational crab fisheries (it includes using tools a marine biologist might use in their field work), and of course, holding live crabs (either red rock or dungeness crabs). This field trip is scheduled for low tide and will run rain or shine.

Please note:

• The beach at təmtəmíxʷtən/Belcarra Regional Park is a MUDDY beach. Please wear closed toe shoes that can get dirty. Rubber boots are recommended if you have them. No FLIP FLOPS please.

• Programs run rain or shine. Umbrellas are not recommended as they make it hard to see past and make it difficult for the students to get hands on with the program materials. Dress for the weather.
