Science World

Come explore the dome with RMHL! 

Monday, December 2nd @ 10:00am

Please meet outside the entrance promptly by 10am as we need to enter Science World as a group all at once. You will be required to purchase your own entrance tickets at regular price if you do not enter with the group.  

Workshops will begin promptly at 10:30am.

Ticket Notes/Options:

• All adults and kids 3 and over require tickets for entrance.
• Please select the free ticket for any toddlers coming along so we can give correct numbers.
• Students Options:

1. Science World entrance only - no workshop included. Please purchase these tickets if your kids do not wish to participate in the workshop or if they do not fall in the age category. Kids below the age levels are not permitted to participate in the workshops.
2. Workshop & Entrance. Please see workshop descriptions below and select based on age group.

Each workshop is approximately 45 minutes and then everyone will be free to explore the dome on their own. Parents, or an adult responsible for your kid(s), are required to stay during the workshops and extra hands-on help is needed with the younger group. 

Workshops:

Exploring Matter (Ages 6-8)

Working in small groups with their adult chaperones, students will combine familiar household materials to create some surprising results that bubble, fizz, dissolve and mix (or don’t mix). They’ll see carbon dioxide turn directly from solid to gas and experience reactions that get warmer or cooler.

Designing From Nature (Ages 9-12)

In "Designing From Nature", students will engage in the design cycle as they tinker to build and code a structure, inspired by how living things sense and respond!

Students will consider sources of design inspiration and creatively design and construct a structure out of straws and connectors. They will code the micro:bit "brain" to react to different stimuli, inspired by particular living things in nature.
