Lets make a salad! Introduction to the kitchen with basic knife skills, safety and a home made vinaigrette. Grades K-12

About the Event
This class is open to all ages K- 12 but please note it is a beginner introduction to cutting, peeling, knife safety and healthy eating.
We are going to make a simple salad together with a home made vinaigrette.
The ingredients we will be working with for the salad are lettuce, carrots, cucumber, peppers. The ingredients for the vinaigrette will be olive oil, red wine vinegar, dijon mustard, garlic, salt and pepper.
The cost will be $5 each student to cover the cost of ingredients and jars.
You will need to bring :
A cutting board, salad bowl, knife and peeler
Pairing knife would work for smaller hands or small chefs knife. I also find it easiest to transport knives wrapped in a kitchen tea towel.
I will bring the ingredients and jars to make and take home the dressing
Parents will need to stay and supervise (assist) their child.
The playground and smaller kids room will be available for us to use if you have siblings that are not participating.
No childcare will be provided in those areas.
The class will be limited to 12 participants.
